Bio
I am Nica Roses, born in Rosario, Argentina. I am a multidisciplinary artist based in Amsterdam, working across performance, installation, text, and music. My practice explores the intersections of intimacy, care, and desire within contemporary structures of power. For nearly two decades, I have worked with choreography and live art, gradually expanding into visual and material practices including photography, video, object-making, and writing.
In parallel to a decade as one of the core members of Young Boy Dancing Group, my solo practice evolved into Desire Reigns, a two-year research project spanning a nouvelle, installations, and performance works. My current initiative, NOBODY CARE, extends this trajectory, merging artistic production with infrastructures of care and developing speculative installations in collaboration with disabled communities, where care operates as both political and aesthetic force.
My work has been presented internationally at institutions such as Kunsthalle Basel, the Athens Biennale, Baltic Triennial, Brutus Rotterdam, Oflaherty’s New York, and the Miró Museum in Barcelona. Alongside my artistic practice, I have over a decade of experience as a caregiver and sex worker which I consider inseparable from my artistic research.
